This piece “Honu Family II” is the second piece of the series “Honu Family.” Inspired by the keiki (children), the honus (turtles) and ohana (family). I began this piece with a more realistic approach capturing the colors of the shell and turtle with rich browns and gold. Did you know that only female sea turtles come to the beaches of Hawaii to lay their eggs? A mature sea turtle will grow to be 3 to 4 feet or 30 cm, weighing up to 400 Ibs or 180 kilos. There are currently 7 species of sea turtles and 6 of them are threatened with extinction.
This is the second piece of the series, “Honu Family” made in 2023. You can definitely expect a third piece for 2024 to add on to this series.
This is an open edition print of ”Honu Family II" created in 2023. These prints are created with William Turner 310 gsm/ 100% cotton paper and are very high quality. "Open Edition" means that this print will be created forever but is not signed and numbered.
The original was created in 2023 on 11x14" Cold Pressed Archers Watercolor Paper using Sennelier watercolor.
