This piece was inspired by the friendly sea turtles out in the ocean or what we call in Hawaii, Honus. I had felt a warmness for Ohana (family) and keiki (children) at the time of this painting and wanted to bring together those feelings in a whimsical way. Reminding us all about our children and future generations and our on going pursuit for wisdom, health and longevity. Did you know that green sea turtles don't get their name from the color of their shell or skin, but from the hue of their fat? Their diet of seaweed and seagrass is largely responsible for their color.
This is an open edition print of ”Honu Family I" created in 2022. These prints are created with William Turner 310 gsm/ 100% cotton paper and are very high quality. "Open Edition" means that this print will be created forever but is not signed and numbered.
The original was created in 2022 on 9x12" Cold Pressed Archers Watercolor Paper using Sennelier watercolor.
